Light and Dark

At the threshold of womanhood, finding comfort in sisterhood, living through serenity, sorrow and pain. Talented photographers, Daniela Talvitie and Maria Baranova, illustrate in Light and Dark the conflicts of relationships and personality.

Daniela Talvitie and Maria Baranova, both established photographers in the Finnish fashion circle, joins forces in the introductory production of Light and Dark, to examine the complexity, changes and swifts in one’s personality. Set up in the Old customs warehouse (Tulli- ja pakkahuone), the location for the upcoming Helsinki Design Week, the photo shoot features top Finnish models, fashion journalists and bloggers and entertainment professionals.

Originally from Brazil, a mother of three little boys, Daniela takes passion in fashion and Scandinavian design. Daniela’s love for Finnish designers and models resulted many productions such as Fashion Photo Helsinki (2010) and RAWR, the Nordic family lifestyle magazine. Stay tunned for a new project on the way.

Maria Baranova’s photography mainly focuses on the theatre and fashion. Her style is way different from usual Finnish editorials, dark, mystique, with heavy colors or black and white, erotism combined with sadness. A business professional, Russian Maria owns the Sepia Photography&Design Studio that specialises on the graphic and a web design and photography for a wide range of the Finnish and international companies.
